Finnix was designed to be just a syadmin livecd, and cannot be installed to a hard drive. Knoppix would be more suited for that.
If you have any more questions about Finnix, you should probably ask on the finnix-general list (http://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/finnix-general). It's probably not polite to do support on a "competitor's" mailing list :)
