[debian-knoppix] boot.img/isolinux/syslinux: Help a Newbie

I'm going to realize a custom version of Knoppix, only for my "didactic pleasure"...
I found good customizing-howto all around the web but now I've a problem related to boot process...
I mean: I understand how to customize logo16 and f2, SYSLINUX.CFG file, etc. but I can't really figure out how to built a really personal boot.img file.
What I want to do ?
1) Download the last version of syslinux for...
2) Realize a new boot.img file fully translated in my language, with my language keyboard charged instead of german (german.kbd) one.
3) Translate messages that come after vmlinuz and miniroot, I mean "Welcom to Knoppix Live CD ..." etc.
4) Realize another CD with the same customization that use Isolinux insteat of syslinux to boot...

Could someone explain in a Newbie languege (= step by step) what I have to do ?

Thanks & sorry for my crap English !
