Which Knoppix version, which knx-hdinstall version?
Recent versions of the knx-hdinstall script copy the
/etc/sysconfig/i18n file to hard disk during the install process.

Unfortunately, KDE does not use the locale settings. So even when the
locale is set to english, KDE is still german. You can change this by
starting "KDE Kontrollzentrum", "Persönliche Einstellungen", "Land &
Sprache" and selecting the country with the "Land:" button.
