Some additional information: I (finally) managed to (cross-)build
a Debian kernel package and test this:
* the battery gauge is working!
* the usb-c port gets its FUSB302 driver, but hits an error later:

(This may be related to this patch to the DTD:

which made the monitor work, or possibly another missing driver.)
* pulseaudio starts correctly (unlike before), but no sound (note: the
internal switch controlling the audio jack is set in "serial port"
mode; I'm not sure whether this affects the speakers, I will try
flipping the switch later).
So this is clearly an improvement (especially the battery gauge), but not
a complete solution.
