Bug#810014: hid-generic: collection stack overflow / parsing failed
Package: linux-image-3.16.0-4-amd64
Version: 3.16.7-ckt20-1+deb8u1
Dear maintainers,
I have a new Eaton 5P UPS connected by USB to my computer, which allows
me to use NUT.
It is not blocking at all, but while usbhid-ups driver is not started, I
get repeated error messages in the console and in dmesg (approximately
every minute):
usb 1-10: USB disconnect, device number 8
usb 1-10: new low-speed USB device number 9 using xhci_hcd
usb 1-10: New USB device found, idVendor=0463, idProduct=ffff
usb 1-10: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3
usb 1-10: Product: Eaton 5P
usb 1-10: Manufacturer: EATON
usb 1-10: SerialNumber: G113F42111
usb 1-10: ep 0x81 - rounding interval to 128 microframes, ep desc says
160 microframes
hid-generic 0003:0463:FFFF.0008: collection stack overflow
hid-generic 0003:0463:FFFF.0008: item 0 1 0 10 parsing failed
hid-generic: probe of 0003:0463:FFFF.0008 failed with error -22
On another computer configured exactly the same way, the last "usb" line
does not appear.
I also installed linux-image-4.3.0-0.bpo.1-amd64 but the result is the
same.
It already happened in 2012 with an Eaton 5PX, which I believe is very
similar to my Eaton 5P (see
http://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/nut-upsdev/2012-December/006344.html): here also it does not seems to be harmfull.
Regards,
Yvan
