ball hardware fault?
This build log shows a segfault in gcc while building linux for
squeeze-backports:

But this particular source file (part of kconfig) gets built for each
of the various kernel configuration (with the same compiler options,
AFAIK), and had already been built successfully. So I don't believe
it's actually a compiler bug.
