Hi Jonathan,

Effectively newer kernels do not fix this issue (I'm using noapic again and it 
seems it works fine).

I sent a message to the vger kernel list (under the subject "VIA-Rhine II 
looses connectivity", 2011-11-20) but nobody answered.
