Bug#631354: linux-image-2.6.39-2-amd64: Kernel doesn't boot (fs error)
Never mind. :-[
It is indeed makefile related. One of my raid controller drivers was
omitted from the .config somehow. After I rebuilt the kernel with this
driver all is good again. I'm pretty sure I didn't remove it as I would
have no reason to, but I can't prove otherwise. At any rate it is
bootable and this bug report can stay closed. Check, check, and check
again those .config options when building new kernels with old .config
files. :-D
