It seems to me that it has been correctly updated.  All the lines
mentioning /dev/hdaN are commented out.

Those are warnings, not necessarily errors.  (And they are not very
helpful to ordinary users!)

We'll need to see a more complete kernel log.  Either use netconsole to
capture the output, or send a photograph of the screen.
