Bug#492903: linux-image-2.6-686-etchnhalf: parameter clocksource=pit doesn't work anymore
Package: linux-image-2.6-686-etchnhalf
Version: 2.6.24+13~etchnhalf.1
Severity: normal
I use VMware Server 1.0.6 on a MS Windows XP SP3 host.
My guest is a netinst debian 4.0r3 installed as a standard system (console only).
I've done:
$ aptitude update
$ aptitude -y upgrade
$ aptitude -y install linux-image-2.6-686-etchnhalf
In order to get right with the tine synchronization from VMware, I modified the /boot/grub/menu.lst kernel line with the
following parameters: kernel .... ro clocksource=pit noapic nolapic
for the 2 kernels: 2.6.18 and 2.6.24
After a reboot with 2.6.24 kernel (etchnhalf) the following results appears when doing:
$ cat /var/log/dmesg | grep clock
Kernel command line: root=/dev/sda1 ro clocksource=pit noapic nolapic vga=791
Time: tsc clocksource has been installed.
After a new reboot with 2.6.18 kernel (Etch):
$ cat /var/log/dmesg | grep clock
Kernel command line: root=/dev/sda1 ro clocksource=pit noapic nolapic vga=791
Time: pit clocksource has been installed.
So it seems that clocksource=pit doesn't work anymore with etchnhalf.
