Tested with Wine 1.0 running Buzz modular sequencer (audio app):
While the same document and same configuration, cpu usage is up by
around 10% after upgrading to 2.6.25 on a decently modern machine
(Celeron M440)
I don't remember seing this problem with the previous kernel upgrades,
and I don't have any specific setup (priorities not altered - no renice).
It should also be noticeable with native real time mutimedia
applications, but the performance hit seems to be more important for
apps running on top of Wine.
