Bug#421780: linux-image-2.6.18-4-686: Kernel with ACPI + SMP + AC power plugged on sony vaio S4M really slow

Package: linux-image-2.6.18-4-686
Version: 2.6.18.dfsg.1-12
Severity: normal

On this laptop (Sony VAIO S4M) if ACPI + SMP is enabled in the kernel
(the laptop
isn't an SMP) and the power cable is plugged in the kernel runs REALLY
slow. I don't know what can cause this problems, but I know is SMP/ACPI
related, because if I disable ACPI through acpi=off the kernel is back
to normal speed and this also happens if I recompile the kernel without
SMP support enabled.
