Package: linux-2.6 Severity: normal Tags: patch Version: 2.6.16-4 Basically, the CIFS in 2.6.16 fails to sign packets properly when reading files. This is a regression against 2.6.15. The upstream author's GIT tree has a patch [1] which he states in [2] that he will push upstream ASAP, and [3] suggests it as a 2.6.16.2 possibility. As a workaround, apparently SMBFS still works, but that'll break unicode and other CIFS improvements over SMB. Just by the by, at [4] you can see a couple of small patchsets to prevent heavy-load oopses in CIFS. I presume they're going upstream, but can't say for sure how soon, and if they're candidates for Debian's kernel. They're short though, so they might even be 2.6.16.2 fodder too...
