sure the rescue shell can't fix itself magically ;)
please post from the busybox shell:
* the last line of messages you see
* cat /proc/cmdline
* cat /proc/modules

before rebooting check that fstype recognises your root fs:
# /usr/lib/klibc/bin/fstype < /dev/hda1
