Bug#333831: Kernels 2.6.15 and 2.6.16 hang with DVDROM-Drive

Hi,

I think I have basically the same problem. I tried it with 2.6.15 and with 2.6.16-rc5.

With Linux 2.6.15 (and 2.6.16-rc5), the boot process disables IRQ 15 for
my dvdrom and then the system hangs.
After a minute or so the following message appears:

cmd 0x5a times out
hdd: lost interrupt

Using the boot parameter 'irqpoll' results in a partly working system -
the dvd drive is unusable! Trying to mount /media/dvdrom displays
an error message about hdd and hangs the system.

Reverting back to 2.6.11 and package 'hotplug' results in a running
system again, so the hardware is apparently not faulty.

I append the dmesg output of 2.6.16 with package 'hotplug' and that
of 2.6.15 with udev. Both variants used irqpoll.

Any hints? Any more information that I could provide?

Gerhard
