Hi,

udev cause some serious problems on some configuration and make the
system unstable.

I believe the default behaviour should be to use yaird and let's the
user switch to udev with initramfs-tools only if it wants.

your problem is tracked on #354334.
you haven't yet documented there why udev is making your system unstable.

initramfs-tools seems to work fine for most of its users,
please report back to aboves mentioned back so that your error can be
nailed.
