Bug#165523: marked as done (kernel: Booting from istallation cd kernel 2.4.18 hangs)

I tried to isntall kernel 2.4.18-bf24 from Debian CDs to my Dell
inspiron 2600 Laptop but it hangs when the kenel reaches where  RedHat I20 trying to find SCSI devices. I installed 2.2 and apt-get the new 2.4.19 & 2.4.18 and both orkes fine.
