Bug#257691: kernel-image-2.6.7-1-686-smp: missing files errors while installing

Package: kernel-image-2.6.7-1-686-smp
Version: 2.6.7-1
Severity: normal

During the installion I get this message:
Setting up kernel-image-2.6.7-1-686-smp (2.6.7-1) ...
cpio: /etc/modprobe.conf: No such file or directory
cpio: /lib/modules/modprobe.conf: No such file or directory

In mid june there was a change in module-init-tools (see changelog at http://packages.debian.org/changelogs/pool/main/m/module-init-tools/module-init-tools_3.1-pre4-1/changelog) regarding these files.

I already report this thing in bug #255199 when tring to install another kernel.
