Bug#278720: aic7xxx is not loaded

Hello,

I got bitten by this problem as well. My machine is a Dell PowerEdge
2500. I thought I had been running a 2.6.8 kernel image and that the
problem appeared after an upgrade to another 2.6.8 kernel image but am
not 100% sure. I went back to a 2.4.x kernel and was able to bring the
machine back up.

I checked the kernel log and the aic7xxx driver is not being loaded.

I tried with 2.6.8-5. Have not tried with
http://www.acm.rpi.edu/~dilinger/kernel-image-aic7xxx/.
