 The disabling acpi workaround is sufficient for my needs, so since it's
fixed in 2.6.9, I wouldn't mind if you didn't spend any of your valuable
time on that.

 On the syslinux boot screen where it lists possible command line options
for funny hardware would be the most obvious place.  If those options are
mentioned anywhere else, then the acpi=off should be mentioned there too.
I don't think it needs more than a sentence, or an entry in a list, in the
install guide.  Somewhere that google will find it is good.  Maybe ask the
debian-installer people.

 I've already put up my collected wisdom about the Tyan S2881 mobo on
http://linuxwiki.org/LinuxHardware_2fTyanB2881.  (It's out of date on the
serial port acpi problem, though.  I'll update it RSN.)
