Never mind. I didn't realize I didn't have the kdeconnect app installed
on the phone. After I installed it (from F-droid), the phone was
recognized. Kde connect SMS is now "Loading conversations from device".
The gear is turning and it's taking a long long time, but then
Epistolaire (sms backup app) says I have more than 3300 messages. I
hope if finishes eventually.
