Ah, it might be Qt 6 based versus Qt 5 based theme.

sddm from experimental is Qt 6 based.

I upgraded another device to Plasam 6.2.0. And interestingly it works 
nicely enough with sddm from unstable. And there maldives theme works just 
fine.
