[OT] initramfstools 0.144 safe to use?
Hi!
Bug#1079273: initramfs-tools: Error with initramfs-tools during apt full-
upgrade on Debian Sid and reiserfsck
https://bugs.debian.org/1079273
To me it appears it may not be able to generate the initrd not only with
reiserfsck but maybe also depending on some other tools that may need to
be installed. dmraid is mentioned in a comment to the bug. Maybe it only
affects these two, which I do not have installed. /usr/sbin/fsck.ext4 is
sym-linked to /usr/sbin/e2fsck but this is already the binary, so I bet
that would not count as too many levels.
Just as a cautionary warning. Maybe it is no issue for your system. I
decided to wait a bit. Especially as there are already 2 other bugs merged
with this one. But these are related to reiserfsck as well.
If someone takes the plunge and upgrades to initramfstools 0.144 and it
works, please let me know.
Please let me know in case you do not want this kind of a warning here. It
is off topic, I know. But as the kmod warning really was helpful to me, I
thought I just write this mail. This does not seem to be as severe as the
kmod thing however.
Best,
