Any suggestions on how to fix this?

I think this may have to do with the display manager. I've been happily using lightm with no issues, because sddm was giving me issues (so long
ago that I don't even remember what they were). If you're on a
different display manager, maybe consider switching.

Unfortunately that didn't work. I tried GDM3 and got the same issue.

I have these rows in .xsession-errors when ksmserver starts

screenlock:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
lock called
Lock window Id:  nnnnnnnn
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

and you?

is $HOME/.config/kscreenlockerrc present and without errors?

I have in the kscreenlockerrc:

[$Version]
update_info=kscreenlocker.upd:0.1-autolock

There don't appear to be any relevant xsession errors.

Strangely, I did get the screen locking again for a couple of days. I think there is some other program running that may be preventing the screen from locking. I'm going to try selectively killing a couple of things that I don't need to see if I can get the screen to lock again.

The culprit appears to be ktorrent.
