As you might probably now we are currently under the Qtbase 5.5.1
transition
[tran]. It started yesterday and we are 50% done, so it's not going
bad at
all.

[tran]
<https://release.debian.org/transitions/html/qtbase-abi-5-5-1.html>

But there's a gotcha: now libqt5gui5 recommends libqt5xcbqpa5. Some
people are
having problems due to it not being installed. It reflects in the app
saying
that the xcb plugin is not present.

I've had further problems that persist after downgrading qtbase5-dev to
5.4.2+dfsg-9 and associated dependencies resulting in not being able to
login to a kwin session:

..xsession-errors:

Xsession: X session started for amarsh04 at Sunday 25 October 14:21:48
ACDT 2015
QCoreApplication::arguments: Please instantiate the QApplication object
first
QDBusConnection: session D-Bus connection created before
QCoreApplication. Application may misbehave.
This application failed to start because it could not find or load the
Qt platform plugin "xcb".

Available platform plugins are: eglfs, kms, linuxfb, minimal,
minimalegl, offscreen.

Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

I'm not sure which application I'm supposed to reinstall.

After upgrading qtbase5-dev to 5.5.1+dfsg-4 and selecting kwin-x11 4:5.4.2-1+b1 I get:

$ cat .xsession-errors
xprop: unable to open display '192.168.1.100:0'
Xsession: X session started for amarsh04 at Sunday 25 October 14:48:02 ACDT 2015 QCoreApplication::arguments: Please instantiate the QApplication object first QDBusConnection: session D-Bus connection created before QCoreApplication. Application may misbehave.

The X11 connection broke: I/O error (code 1)
XIO: fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server ":0"
      after 6 requests (6 known processed) with 0 events remaining.

After switching to kwin-wayland 4:5.4.2-1+b1 I get:

$ cat .xsession-errors
xprop: unable to open display '192.168.1.100:0'
Xsession: X session started for amarsh04 at Sunday 25 October 14:57:09 ACDT 2015 QCoreApplication::arguments: Please instantiate the QApplication object first QDBusConnection: session D-Bus connection created before QCoreApplication. Application may misbehave.

Still stuck as to what to do to restore being able to log into the desktop.

Arthur.
