I've had further problems that persist after downgrading qtbase5-dev to 5.4.2+dfsg-9 and associated dependencies resulting in not being able to login to a kwin session:

Available platform plugins are: eglfs, kms, linuxfb, minimal, minimalegl, offscreen.
Reinstalling the application may fix this problem. I'm not sure which application I'm supposed to reinstall. Any suggestions welcome. Arthur.
