Re: What needs to improve in KDE 4?

Okay, I have upgraded on two separate boxes, one a 32-bit machine running Compiz atop KDE 4.4.3, the other a 64-bit machine running native KDE 4 compositing. The former machine has an nvidia card, while the latter has an ati card.

On both systems, clicking either on the desktop or the cashew and selecting Desktop Activity Settings causes the panel and the desktop background to disappear. I no longer get a menu when right clicking on the (black) desktop. I am also no longer able to change desktops, but I can still access the windows on the current (only) desktop. The only way to recover from this is to go into a terminal window and restart kdm or reboot.

I hope this report helps a bit.

I am running compiz on top of KDE 4.4.3, I hope this does not void my warranty. :)

Please tell us what problems, bugs, or issues KDE 4 that make it
difficult to use. Please be very specific so that bugs can be filed
and the software can be fixed. General statements such as "KDE4 sux"
are not welcome, as they do not give any indication as to what can be
fixed.

Comparisons to KDE 3 are welcome, but please do not simply state
"should be like KDE 3". Rather, please state how KDE 4 behaves, and
how you would prefer it to behave (even if that means describing in
detail KDE 3 behaviour).

My intention is to file issues and get bugs fixed, not to fight.
Nobody is ordered to participate in this thread, but all are welcome.
