Well, KDE 4 is different from KDE 3.5. But since KDE 3.5 is unsupported (dead) 
upstream, there is no choice. So if you are not satisfied with KDE 4, you 
should probably have a look at other desktops. I'm just saying that quickly 
you will get tired of unrelated packages being held back due to pinning more 
than you currently want to keep KDE 3.5 ...

Please report bugs upstream about your wishes. Btw, knemo is available, afaik.
