In KDE4 you can do that via popup menu. In KDE3 you can delete the index files ( .foldername.index) manually while KMail is not running and it will rebuild them on the next startup. Probably do a backup of the main mail direcory first, just in case. Depending on the version of KMail which created the main mail directory, it is either $HOME/Mail or $HOME/.kde/share/apps/kmail/mail Cheers, Kevin
