Migration to KDE4, more
10. Desktop icon mouse-hover highlighting does not reset correctly so several
may remain spuriously highlighted. No harm done. Hover over it and slowly
back off to reset.
11. Those rotate/resize subicons and such add little in may opinion--I would
like the option to get rid of them. They work in some plasmoids so if you
really want to look at it an some strange angle and size, enjoy. In my mind,
the right-click menu can take care of all of this and be less obtrusive on
the desktop--how often does one do any of this?
12. More older applets that can work:
kalsamix (substitute for kmix). Run first from command line and configure.
Ksensors (copy the older rc, run from command line first)
kboincspy (as I reported before). Copy the rc file. Run from command line.
qjackctl (run from multimedia menu).
These and kmail will come up on the next session if restore current session
(the default) option is set. .kde4/Autostart is apparently NOT honored.
13. Logout/shutdown options are presented in the kickoff "leave" menu and in
an older style dialog that comes up in the dark by default. If you use
kickoff, uncheck the two logout/shutdown options to just use what appears in
the "leave" menu.
14. Email links, bookmarks, etc., default to the older konqueror which will in
fact work OK. The "home" icon will try to bring up the new konqueror which
does not work. Change the "application" to dolphin. Other device/folder icons
will bring up dolphin by default.
May be continued :-)
