I've been quite happy using the 'hotkeys' program, though it's not a
kde-specific program. It comes with definitions for many different
keyboards in /usr/share/hotkeys/. You will need to start it whenever
you log in, though, which can be accomplished with a simple script in
~/.kde/Autostart/ .

Hey,
I Google-ed around and found xbindkeys and that does the trick. i
thought there was smth specific to get and install because i also used
Ubuntu and everything worked smooth without my intervention there. Yes,
i know, i'm a Debian user now and the story is different :)! But hey, i
like it this way!
