Thanks Dmitri and Matej,
As you can see from my OP I thought it could be a bug. But it happens I
*like* the flag icon in the upper-left-hand corner. I don't need to know
how to put it back on the system tray, I wanted to keep it in the
upper-left-hand corner. Maybe if a KDE developper is reading this that
might consider adding it as an option.
