JuK & amaroK: UTF-8 encoded ogg/vorbis tags are truncated at double-byte chars

I'm encoding CDs to ogg using the very nice (and packaged) abcde script.
By default, abcde encodes the tags it puts on ogg files using UTF-8.
Until recently this didn't cause any trouble, but since I discovered
and ripped the hungarian band After Crying, a problem reared its head.
Song titles often contain characters that are encoded as two bytes in
UTF-8. Apparently, JuK and amarok (or some underlying lib) can't handle
these tags. The tags are truncated before the first double-byte
character.

My installed versions are

juk 3.5.1-1
amarok 1.4-beta2-2
