ideally dynamically generated files should be put somewhere in
$XDG_CACHE_HOME (defaults to $HOME/.cache) per the freedesktop base
directory specification. I have no Idea if and when DCOP plans to make this
move though.
In the same way that config files should be put somewhere in
$XDG_CONFIG_HOME ideally, kde only looks there for freedesktop standarized
stuff though (the latest XFCE has moved everything with XFCE specifc bits
under $XDG_CONFIG_HOME/xfce4)

2. Plain-text mail recommended since I move html and double
format mails to a low priority folder (they're mainly spam)
