ACK. I used the source from
deb-src http://www.perrier.eu.org/samba-debian stable main
and patched it to 2.2.8a, made a new source package, fixed it a bit and
recompiled for testing. If you need a deb line, let me know :) (it's at
university and fast but I won't make it public).
I also do not understand when actually the samba maintainer went insane...
