You may want to look over Qtopia Desktop from TrollTech which is using a 
librsync for synchronizing with Qtopia on handhelds. Though it is only 
available as a binary it can give you at least a hint :-)

Oh, and I would be all over for adding an rsync ioslave to KDE :-))
