I have a l'espion with is much the same thing. KDE 3.1 does have previews for 
.pnm files. I don't know about any earlier versions. As for being blue, I 
don't seem to have this problem, but I do when running it as a  webcam. I 
know there is a switch for the kernel module to fix this. As KDE just used 
gphoto2, I suggest you email them wrt to the blue images.
