Well most other distributions have already gone to gcc 3.2, glibc 2.3 (or
2.2.9x) but debian is having trouble due to them being broken on various
platforms other than x86. glibc 2.3.1 was uploaded to debian earlier
this week which aiui was required before the gcc transition can happen.
I am not certain what it is actually waiting on now, the information on
Willy's page is very out of date (afaict) it was last updated on Aug 16.
