You need permission to access your cd-rom device, that should be /dev/hdx if 
you have an ATAPI cd-rom, or /dev/sdx if you have a SCSI cd-rom. In my 
debian, the device is in the group 'disk', so i need to add this group to my 
user... or you can change the permissions of the device:

chmod a+rw /dev/hdx
