This is only the kdebase directory. There are many other directories to
fetch. . .

I 'Think' this might be the source of your problem? It would seem that kde2.2
has this provided in kdebase-libs. I'm no expert, and hope someone can
correct me if I'm wrong, but, I think you should install the kdelibs stuff
first. At least I think that's the way you need to compile from source
anyway, so it would make sense to install the kdelibs stuff first, then the
kdebase stuff, followed by the rest.

However, judging by Chris' recent mails, these packages still have bugs in
them, but he should be uploading fixed packages into unstable soon?

Yes, I know we've all heard this before, but now he has explained he was just
making sure that the kde2 and kde3 stuff didn't get mixed up in the
testing/frozen stuff. Now that there is a stop on unstable getting into
testing before the next release, he is free to upload what he wants.

I, for one, am willing to wait a few more days (weeks, months? years?! NOT!)
to be sure to get fairly stable stuff when Chris says it's ready.

I'm sure he'd wellcome any help with debugging these buggy debs, but if you
need to ask such a basic question, I don't think you can aid the debugging
effort. No offence.

I think you would be better off just waiting until kde3 is uploading to
unstable. I know I am.

For those who know about such things, it might be a good idea to have a look
at:
http://kde3.geniussystems.net/debian/

and see if you can offer any help in getting these ready for release! I'm
sure Chris would appreciate the assistance, and remember, with enough eyes,
all bugs are shallow. ESR

Cheers,
