Maybe you have the wrong qt version installed? These are from unstable.

Could someone please send me a list of the valid libs needed for
testing KDE so I can find which ones need removing?

This is right after doing an apt-get -t unstable install kde.

I think the answer might be in this, though. I've seen, from someone, that dcopserver was started by kdeinit in no --nosid mode. When I try running kdeinit I get the same error as with any other kde applications, I.E.:
jgay@progeny:~$ kdeinit
kdeinit: relocation error: /usr/lib/libkdeui.so.3: undefined symbol: styleChange__8QToolBarR6QStyle
jgay@progeny:~$

So it seems, if I could find out why I'm getting this error, I might be able to fix my system. This might also explain why when I try starting dcopserver manually and then running startx, I just get a blank X screen.

If someone can explain why I'm getting these relocation errors, and how it might have started I jsut might be able to get back to enjoying KDE again instead of fighting with it.

Now I need to remove KDE again because as soon as I reboot any attempt to re-start X will get me back to the dcopserver problem again.

Cheers,

	John Gay
