At least for me, when it finds an address, I just hit the down arrow and it 
fills the rest in.  I have completion set to "popup".  Right click in the To: 
field and see what your's is set to.

That is being actively discussed/worked on by the Kmail developers as we 
speak (it's been the topic de jure for the last couple days on the kmail-dev 
mailing list).  Be assured that it's a high priority, and as soon as it's 
ready to ship, you'll know :-)
