Hi Jamie,
Could you please include an item on how to use KDEDIRS to make locally
compiled packages work in /usr/local/kde, etc.? And of course how to put that
in your .xsession
A starter for you:
Q. How can I use locally compiled KDE programs?
A. You should set
export KDEDIRS=/usr:/usr/local/kde
before you start your kde session. Consequently, any KDE program that you
compile and install with prefix=/usr/local/kde can be run easily.
- From Achim's mail

A bit more general is to do stuff like setting KDEDIRS in .bash_profile and
source it from ~/.xsession (with #!/bin/bash of course). This way one gets
at least the same environment with with ssh and kdm.
