No problem with cups + any KDE apps here.

Also no Problem here.  Does this work in a konsole/xterm?

	lpr ~/.bashrc 

	qtcups ~/.bashrc

Have you checked that your ~/.lpoptions is valied.  I've once had
problems because I wrote 'Defaults' instead of 'Default'.
