New guy with some questions

Greetings debian-java,

I'm an 'amateur' java/debian hacker. My goal is to put together a debian
package for freenet[0] and eventually get it uploaded to the debian
repo(very long term goal). Freenet depends on a few different / old /
obselete pieces of code which will make this project difficult / fun
;-). The package has been built long ago so i have something to base it
on[1].

Firstly freenet depends on bouncycastle 1.52 with stable, testing and
unstable having 1.49 and experimental having 1.51. Is there any way I
can assist getting 1.52 uploaded to debian? Should I file a feature
request bug and work with the maintainer that way?

Secondly package libbcprov-java-doc is supposed to install the api docs
but does not actually contain the the documentation. Should i file a bug
for this too? Is this as simple as including the javadoc's in the git
repo and building the package?

I am not asking for the community to work for me, I am happy to do the
legwork and get involved but I will need some advice, a push in the
right direction and possibly some hand holding.

Thanks,
Dean
