OK. so gij-4.1 now builds but ecj-bootstrap now fails with:

make[1]: Entering directory
/build/buildd/ecj-bootstrap-3.2.1/build/dist'
/usr/bin/gcj-4.1 -c -g -O2 -fPIC -findirect-dispatch -fjni ecj.jar.1.jar -o ecj.jar.1.o
/usr/bin/gcj-4.1 -c -g -O2 -fPIC -findirect-dispatch -fjni ecj.jar.2.jar -o ecj.jar.2.o
/usr/bin/gcj-4.1 -c -g -O2 -fPIC -findirect-dispatch -fjni ecj.jar.3.jar -o ecj.jar.3.o
/usr/bin/gcj-4.1 -shared -g -O2 -fPIC -findirect-dispatch -fjni -Wl,-Bsymbolic ecj.jar.1.o ecj.jar.2.o ecj.jar.3.o -o ecj.jar.so
/usr/bin/gcj-dbtool-4.1 -n ecj.jar.db 64
make[1]: *** [ecj.jar.db] Segmentation fault

SP it would appear that the workaround of not running gcj-dbtool-4.1
in the postinst is not sufficient.

I have no real idea how to try and debug this, knowing almost nothing
about java.

Any suggestions as to what to investigate?
