And by this I mean, that I prefer Debian and it is unlikely to change it
to any other OS I know at the moment, but to tell one more time why I
prefer Debian is a little bit offtopic here...
Anyway, I would rather consider overall stability than the fact of
something being packaged - most of the time I have to install software by
hand once or twice a year and after that it just works. And I think it is
better for me to use tar.gz, but YMMV.
