Potresti provare a disinstallarlo con l'opzione --purge ad apt, e poi reinstallarlo... così dovresti fare una pulizia dei vari file di configurazione e rimetterci quelli giusti.
apt-get remove --purge <pacchetto>
Provato. Anche cosi` non ho risolto. In particolare, l'opzione di log in automatico non e` spuntabile... (grigia) :-(
