Problema dischi USB
Salve a tutti,
ho un problema con gli hard disk esterni USB e con gli adattatori PATA-> USB e SATA->USB
Ho una Asus Cusl2 con un P3-
733 (ma il problema ce l'ho anche su una vecchia Epox (K6-300) e su una Asus k7v)
Ho installato debian stable:

Ovvero:
quando collego il dispositivo (in quest'ultimo tentativo ho provato una docking station USB) la periferica
viene rilevata (sembrerebbe mappata in /dev/sdg) ma l'HD comincia a fare un rumore strano, come se le testine si muovessero all'impazzata
da una parte all'altra (ho abbastanza esperienza in HW e il rumore non mi dice nulla di buono).
Dopo un po' il rumore finisce ma cercando
di montare il disco (/dev/sdg1) mount torna un errore di I/O error.
Guardando /var/log/syslog (che allego) noto questo errore ripetuto
piu' volte:

ma questo è un altro mistero.
Devo far notare che le memorie USB (pendrive) funzionano bene.
Puo' essere un problema di
compatibilità USB2.0 <--> USB1.1? ovvero il dispositivo non è compatibile USB1.1? (Da lo stesso errore usando un HD Western Digital My
Passport da 2.5'' 500Gb)
Non mi pare che la Asus CUSL2 abbia USB2.0 ... o almeno non sembra visto che il device usa UHCI

Ho provato a cercare su google, l'unico consiglio utile
suggerisce di rimuovere il modulo usb_storage (rmmod) e poi ricaricarlo, ma non ho ancora provato.
