telecomando non-Lirc

Buongiorno,
Vi scrivo perché sono un po' perso nel configurare il telecomando del 
mio laptop, ho un Acer Aspire 5652 con una scheda TV avermedia M115 
(interna) ed il telecomando, credo standard della ACER (sottile, di 5x15cm).
DAto che vorrei rendere il mio portatile un server-mediacenter avrei 
intenzione di far funzionale il telecomando, ma stranamente sembra che 
non necessiti nè di lirc nè di alcun programma di configurazione, quando 
premo un tasto il computer lo vede come se lo facesse la tastiera, vi 
faccio un esempio: freccia su prima sulla tastiere e poi sul telecomando 
visti da xev (pressione e rilascio)

ed anche in fase di boot se premo il pulsante POWER del telecomando il 
pc si spegne. Fantastico! solo che alcuni tasti non vanno e xev non ne 
vede la pressione (ad esempio sente STOP ma non PLAY), in queste 
condizioni non è molto utile...
cosa dovrei fare? lirc va usato comunque, magari col modulo lirc_serial? 
non sò che fare, anche perche il device ttyS0 non esiste.
